Overview

AutoTroll is a program to aid in hosting VGAPlanets by Tim Wisseman.

Several years ago I began hosting VGA Planets on a BBS. Over the years on the BBS and even more now on the internet I've seen a need to make the host's job easier. This includes getting TRNs from players, putting them into the right directory, telling the players if their TRN is good or not, hosting the game reliably at a set time and providing an interface to do some common host tasks like notifiying players of new games, setting up games and so on.

I started AutoTroll as a set of scripts hosting games in 1992, that turned into C programs working with FrontDoor and WildCat BBS software, and finally to Delphi in 95 with AutoTroll Junior. AutoTroll has many more features than the initial general goal. You can see a list of some of the features here. AutoTroll was made to make the host's life easier. Playing VGAP is only as good as the place you play. Part of the host's job is making a reliable and fair place for players to play, and I hope that AutoTroll can help you in that.
